Imprisonment and Freedom.

It seems that consciousness is sometimes as imprisoning as it is freeing, for humans are the only creatures on this earth that not only lock other species into cages, but even go so far as to lock members of their own species away for days, months, years, decades, lifetimes, and for some, it is ruled that they shall spend multiple lifetimes in a cage. The private prison industry is the fastest growing industry in America. Prisons are being built today so that when the children who are currently in elementary school begin to turn seventeen, they will be eligible to be locked away. For a flabberghastingly high percentage of American males between the ages of seventeen and twenty five, being locked inside of a cage is a reality. Choice is for the most part, physically removed from the practice of living. The only escape is the mind. In this way, the mind is as freeing as it is imprisoning.
